What is Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy?
Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy (TIYT) is a research based approach to healing that has been proven to reduce the stressful effects trauma (and stress related illness or experiences) has on the entire mind-body system, not just the mind.
“Trauma”, Bessel van der Kolk explains, “is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on mind, brain, and body.”
This trauma-informed holistic approach to healing draws from neurobiology, stress physiology and medical biophysics while being combined with the ancient practice of Yoga to create balance and harmony in the body and mind. Through specific techniques you will learn to self sooth, self-heal and self-regulate to feel safe, grounded and present. You will be guided on your journey to self-compassion and self-regulation, rather than judgement and isolation.
TIYT creates a safe space to educate and empower you, and to honor your individual needs, reconnecting you to your amazing Self!
Is Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy for me?
TIYT is beneficial for anybody suffering from anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD and even chronic pain. When people hear the word trauma, it’s common to think of events like war, a bad accident, or sexual assault. It can feel like a word or label reserved for certain types of severe events and experiences. I’ve witnessed this approach benefit a wide range of clients, this work is not reserved for one specific type of experience.
You may not see yourself as a survivor of trauma, but find yourself living with symptoms of anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed with moving through your day, or dealing with that feeling of being stuck. The truth is that nearly everyone has experienced some level of trauma–whether large or small, isolated or ongoing. The daily stresses of everyday life, for some, may be experienced and held in the physical body as traumatic.
What to expect in your private session?
Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy (TIYT) is a therapeutic approach to healing. I offer customized private sessions, specifically addressing mental and emotional health, as well as physical health. A variety of techniques will be offered, including (but not limited to) accessible physical movement, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, visualization, journaling and reflection. Sessions are completely customized for you; your needs, your pace and your goals. You will never be asked to do something you don’t feel ready for or comfortable doing. You will learn about your nervous system and what is happening in your body, as well as the role you can play in bringing more peace and balance into your days. A blend of techniques and tools will be experienced for self-regulation, mindfulness and to reconnect with your Inner Essence.

Group Yoga Classes are not recommended as a substitute for private sessions, but could go very nicely side by side, if that feels right for you.

What does an Integrative Wellness and Life coach do?
My intention is to help you gain freedom from the past, release fear or worry of the future; while overcoming habits, patterns and limiting beliefs that block you from living a full, balanced, and happy life. I empower you to overcome, grow, and reconnect to your inner essence...creating harmony in your life.
How will this happen?
First, it isn't a one-time magic pill. It takes your commitment to your own growth, showing up for yourself and being willing to make the effort to do the work. You will get homework, at a pace that you are ready for and comfortable with. I will be right by your side to support you through the process, to clear away anything that surfaces and to celebrate the ah-ha moments! Between our sessions and your commitment to your homework, you will clear away the “yuck” while integrating the tools you have learned into your days, for a lifelong positive shift.
What will our time together look like?
I follow an integrative and holistic approach to creating effective positive change in all areas of your life (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual). Each session, like each client, is completely unique. We will use diverse healing modalities to be integrated into our sessions, and some to be integrated into your life; promoting self healing, self love and continued growth. Some sessions we'll talk more, some we won't talk much at all. Each session is trauma-informed and client led, meaning we progress as you feel ready, and only in ways that you are comfortable with. I am here to meet you exactly where you are with no judgement and an open supportive heart.

Intro to Yoga & Meditation

These private sessions are perfect if you are new to these practices. Maybe you’ve heard how great and necessary these practices are to living a stress free life, and you want to find out more. The best way to learn more is to experience it. Taking a private session vs just jumping in blind to a group class will benefit you greatly. You will learn not only how, but why, these practices work. Techniques will be broken down so you can really embody the practices and begin to integrate them into your life. The time spent in a private session is dedicated completely to you; your needs, your unique challenges, and your pace. No experience necessary, just show up with an open mind and open heart.
Corporate Sessions
Live Online Class
Our corporate yoga classes and workshops are ideal to integrate into the workday; enhancing productivity, efficiency, and focus. These classes will increase mindfulness, release stress and anxiety, while stimulating clear thinking. We'll teach you and your team tools to bring more peace into the day, supporting further success and happier employees. Consider these sessions for your Team Building & Sales Kick Off events too! Small Group/Special Events

These sessions are typically customized for 2-12 people. The program will be developed based on your group's goals: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Gather some interested friends or coworkers with similar intentions and unite to connect in a deep way. Also, a unique idea for a bridal party, birthday gathering, Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversary, mother's blessing (baby shower), actors opening night for a play, or follow it up with a mani/pedi and lunch for a fun girls' day!
